1990091304/13/15 So in exhibiting my work news I have a piece in the "Making History" group art show, which is a benefit for Arts In Bushwick. A.I.B. is the organization that conducts Bushwick Open Studios. There are over 400 artists in the "Making History" show. The opening reception is this Sunday. The info is on the image attached and the URL for the show is artsinbushwick.org/benefit/ I will also be exhibiting my artwork at my studio/loft during Bushwick Open Studios, which is June 5th, 6th, and 7th. I will post more specific info about that in the near future. I will be having a reception at my place the evening of June 6th for B.O.S., and I will be showing at least 25 paintings of mine that weekend.

1990096024/17/15 Thank to everybody who is participating in this visual diary project. I really appreciate your support, and hopefully you enjoy at least some of the pics. I am going to keep the project going as I enjoy doing it and it has helped me to look at things that inspire my painting from a different perspective.

1990099934/20/15 So it was packed at the "Making History" group art show opening yesterday. In the pic titled "MH1", that is me with my piece in the show (the red painting, titled 'Swamp Thing'). The pic titled "MH2" is the secondary room at the gallery with my friends, artists Kristy Elena and Taylor Bowen pictured in the bottom middle. The pic titled "MH3" is the main gallery room, which is where my painting is hung. Over 400 artists displaying some great artwork, a good turnout, and being able to hang out with some friends at least for a little bit made it a fun event.

1990101414/22/15 So my friend and fellow artist Taylor Bowen (aka Haus Riot) gifted me this awesome painting of his. Not only is it an excellent example of his amazing artwork, but it is the first painted shaped wood panel that he did! He also does a great art project called free art Fridays, where he takes small pieces of artwork he has made and leaves them in different areas of NYC for people to discover and take home with them. Artwork of his will be in a group art show coming up April 29th and 30th at PopUp Gallery in downtown NYC. More info is on their website, www.popupgallery.nyc also you can check out more of his work at www.hausriot.com

1990103984/25/15 This is a painting by one of my favorites Jean Dubuffet titled "Wall with Inscriptions" 40 x 30 inches, oil on canvas, 1945. The piece was exhibited in the recent Dubuffet show at MoMA. I think it is an important painting because not only does it express Dubuffet's fascination with what many may have considered "every day life" or "mundane" subject matter, but I also think it reveals where Dubuffet may have drawn from some of his aesthetic inspiration. Most importantly I think it reveals how Dubuffet was an artist ahead of his time as this piece could easily be displayed amidst a young street art/graffiti art show today.

1990539195/1/15 People often ask me what I do at my job. This is one of the tasks in the first picture on this email which was taken by my boss. I am moving and installing a Giacometti sculpture estimated to sell in the $130 million dollar range.
-In the next picture is the installed Giacometti along with a vibrant Mark Rothko painting, and a very unique Alexander Calder mobile. One of the things I love about my job is the incredible artwork that I have an intimate experience with.
-In the next picture is an extraordinary Franz Kline painting, a standing mobile Calder, and an exquisite Mark Rothko painting. All of these are some of my favorites in the sales I work on. The other thing I love about my job is the people. I work with some extremely talented and dedicated people and while we drive each other a little bonkers at times in the end all of the people working extremely hard at making things happen in many different departments and areas makes it all worth it.
-The artwork in the sales I work on is on view to the public for the next 10 days at Christie's-Rockefeller Center. You can obtain more information on viewing/auction times/schedule and the artwork at www.christies.com

1990544145/4/15 So I took this picture this past weekend coming home from work as the L train is out of service and that is how I usually commute to work from Brooklyn to Manhattan. My intent for taking the photo is a possible future reference for one of my cityscape paintings. Part of my process is painting abstracted images from memory and photo references, especially specific locations like this one. I have always wondered what the abandoned, trackless, train trestles are to the left in the image, and decided to research it. They once served as an elevated upper level track to the BMT line in Brooklyn. It was built in 1889 and put out of service in 1969. The location is the Myrtle/Broadway stop on the J/M/Z MTA New York subway lines.

1990544345/8/15 The simple things in Brooklyn. Painting aesthetic reference #3,563,204. I was thinking about the painter Richard Diebenkorn's reference to shadows cast by the windows in his studio that he used in some of his paintings. I was also thinking of the 3-D that graffiti writers put on their letters to give depth to the form through modeling.

I was able to see some excellent art and thank you to the family and friends that were able to come by my studio, and to the people that purchased artwork of mine. This image is a performance artist that was doing their thing on my block. I am still not sure what that thing is exactly, but besides the bizarre costume and the shopping cart with stuff piled in it almost 8 feet high it was an interesting encounter.
