a new painting of mine titled "Rio de Janeiro Disparity" 12 x 12 inches, acrylic paint and ink on wood panel 2014, $400
-the motivation for this painting is a new multi-million dollar World Cup soccer stadium being built in Rio de Janeiro (which a number of workers died at due to un-safe working conditions) amidst the numerous and expansive favelas, which are shanty towns rife with crime, and oppressed by dehumanizing poverty. I have not been to Brazil. What I am going on is what people have told me that live there, and images as well as films. Here are a couple good movie references "City of God", "Waste Land" a documentary on the artist Vik Muniz, and "Witness:RIo" which is an HBO documentary. My favorite being "Waste Land".
